Hi, I'm Rachel.
Based in Washington, Rachel Morris is a vibrant cellist and dedicated educator known for her expressive playing and thoughtful, student-centered approach to teaching. In addition to her private cello studio, Rachel works as a music tutor in the Northshore and neighboring school districts, and also provides ensemble coaching to help young musicians grow in both confidence and artistry.

A passionate advocate for performance-based learning, she organizes regular student recitals and chamber music workshops—creating opportunities for her students to build ensemble skills, explore musical communication, and gain experience on stage.

In addition to her teaching, Rachel maintains an active performance schedule. She performs regularly as a soloist and with orchestras across the Pacific Northwest, bringing depth, nuance, and versatility to every stage.

Before relocating to Washington, Rachel was deeply involved in Kansas City’s musical community. She led a vibrant and highly sought-after private studio, served as Vice President of the Kansas City Cello Society, and worked with the Harmony Project to expand access to music education for underserved youth.

Rachel’s training includes mentorship with Trilla Ray-Carter, Stephen Elisha, and Andreas Pokorny, former principal cellist of the Vienna Symphony. She studied cello performance from Brigham Young University, where she was a semi-finalist in the university’s prestigious concerto competition.

At the core of her teaching philosophy is a belief that music is more than technique—it’s a powerful form of self-expression. Rachel is passionate about helping students discover their voice and connect more deeply with the music they play.
