Hi, I'm Rachel.
Until my recent move to Washington, I've spent the past several years in my hometown of Kansas City, where I immersed myself in the world of music education and performance.
In Kansas City, I had the privilege of teaching private cello lessons from my home studio, where I dedicated myself to nurturing the talents of aspiring cellists. My students not only excelled in their individual pursuits but also made significant contributions to various orchestras and ensembles throughout the region. It was immensely fulfilling to witness their growth and success, both as musicians and individuals.
Outside of my teaching commitments, I was deeply involved in the local music scene. As Vice President of the Kansas City Cello Society, I collaborated with fellow cellists to organize workshops and events aimed at providing educational opportunities for cellists of all backgrounds, teaching and advancing ensemble skills, and fostering a sense of community among cellists throughout Kansas City. Additionally, my role as a substitute instructor with the Harmony Project allowed me to extend the benefits of music education to underserved communities, an endeavor close to my heart.
My own journey as a cellist has been enriched by invaluable mentorship and experiences. My musical journey includes studying under esteemed mentors such as Trilla Ray-Carter and Stephen Elisha in Kansas City. I pursued my Bachelor of Music in cello performance at Brigham Young University, where I was a semi-finalist in the prestigious School of Music concerto competition. Additionally, I honed my craft in Vienna under the guidance of Andreas Pokorny, former principal cellist of the Vienna Symphony.
Music, for me, is a profound form of expression, and to express oneself through music is a gift that I am passionate about cultivating. I love helping young cellists connect more with music, to help them understand they have a voice.
Rachel's studio is located in Redmond.
I would love to meet and work with you. Feel free to send me a message.
